In view of that, competence in implementing process innovation for product development in organization is critical. Unfortunately, research and framework-development in this area has been limited. In any organization a systematic framework is crucial to facilitate understanding and guiding the process innovation for product development implementation especially for SMEs. This study will investigate the characteristics of the process innovation frameworks proposed by past studies to provide an understanding on the similarities and differences between all the frameworks.
