Customers are not given the opportunity to create their own design or style online. In this study, a design framework of a 2-D semantic tool and system architecture for the development of an online design tool to allow user to personalize their garment style is presented. The prototype system which is based on a design of Malay traditional costumes incorporates the semantic concept to ease the design process for all types of users. The creation of such tool on e-tailor websites may increase customers’ satisfaction. Future work may extend the tool functionalities to include costing elements and to expand the design elements sets database.
