Description
Summary:The proliferation of e-tailoring concept has recently provided opportunities for tailors globally to be within reached by customers to make orders from the comfort of their home. However, most existing e-tailoring websites only provide customers a selection of available designs and to some extent allow them to choose their preferred colors and materials. Customers are not given the opportunity to create their own design or style online. In this study, a design framework of a 2-D semantic tool and system architecture for the development of an online design tool to allow user to personalize their garment style is presented. The prototype system which is based on a design of Malay traditional costumes incorporates the semantic concept to ease the design process for all types of users. The creation of such tool on e-tailor websites may increase customers’ satisfaction. Future work may extend the tool functionalities to include costing elements and to expand the design elements sets database.
