Summary: | Rubrics are scoring tools that are normally used with performance assessments. They include three important parts such as criteria, descriptors and levels of students' performances, Nowadays, many rubrics have been designed and they can easily be found on the internet. But, from 1,000,000 to 13,000,000 rubrics uploaded on the internet, how to determine the best rubrics which are suitable for engineering education courses? It is difficult to answer this question because several rubrics have been designed for different contexts and they cannot be generalized to other contexts. Due to the foregoing reason, this study has been done in order to design a Problem Solving Process Rubric (PPR) that focuses on assessing problem-solving skills, especially for the Project based Laboratory (PB Lab) course. This paper reports the step-by-step process on how the PPR has been developed and hopefully, this processes guide the lecturers to construct a rubric systematically by determining the relevant rubric's criteria, descriptors and levels of performances, so that it can assess the required outcomes effectively. |
