Summary:Artesunic acid, a derivative of artemisinin has proven to be rapidly effective and safe in the treatment of malaria. Artesunic acid has been formulated for parenteral and oral use and has recently become available as suppositories for rectal administration. Artesunic acid and it's active metabolite, dihydroartemisinin used in all these studies was characterized using infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance. The purity was determined by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with an electrochemical detector. Asid artesunik merupakan terbitan artemisinin yang berkesan dan selamat digunakan untuk merawat kes-kes malaria. Asid artesunik wluud dalam formulasi parenteral dan oral, kini dibentuk secara suppositori untuk pemberian secara rektal. Sehingga kini, masih tiada kaedah pelarutan secara rasmi bagi suppositori asid artesunik. Kaedah inframerah dan resonans magnetik nuklear telah digunakan untuk pencirian asid artesunik dan metobolit aktifnya, dihidroartemisinin.. Ketulenan sebatian-sebatian tersebut telah ditentukan menggunakan kromatografi cecair prestasi tinggi yang dilengkapi dengan pengesan elektrokimia.
