Summary: | Kota Samarahan is one ofthe divisions in Sarawak. It takes about 30 minutes drive from Kuching to Kota Samarahan. Kota Samarahan division comprise of Serian, Simunjan and Asajaya. In terms of rate of growth, Samarahan has contributed 3.92% from the last census period (1991 - 2000) to Sarawak’s economic growth. Previously Kota Samarahan was known as Muara Tuang. The means to Muara Tuang from Kuching was linked only by river. During the early seventies, it was connected by road access. The linked is about 25-kilometres marked as the starting point for the development era for Kota Samarahan. Today, Kota Samarahan is well- known as “Centre for higher learning, research & technology”. |
