The article examines three critical aspects of heavy vehicle safety: maintenance, operations, and environmental factors. Maintenance issues highlighted include inadequate periodic inspections, poor documentation of records, and the use of substandard replacement parts, along with insufficient checks on critical components such as brakes, tyres, and suspension systems. Operational challenges focus on pre-journey inspections, proper load management, and driver fatigue monitoring, while environmental factors add complexity through challenges with night driving visibility, complex traffic conditions, and weather impacts. The quality of road infrastructure and maintenance also plays a crucial role in vehicle stability and control.
