Description
Summary:There is limited evidence supporting the use of psychodynamic psychotherapy in the management of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, OCD is a disabling illness that often presents with comorbidities, and psychodynamic psychotherapy can be particularly beneficial in such cases. By targeting unconscious conflicts and bringing them to the surface, this therapeutic approach may help patients gain a deeper understanding of their illness. This article aims to explain the manifestation of symptoms through the lens of psychodynamic theory. It seeks to deepen the understanding of the nature of OCD by exploring unconscious processes and defence mechanisms. Furthermore, we will examine how addressing underlying psychological conflicts can complement traditional treatments and potentially improve patient outcomes.
