Summary: | Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and Malaysian Qualifications Agency have come out
with integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average (iCGPA) in order to assess students’ academic
performance. This assessment method assesses students based on three domains: cognitive;
affective; and psychomotor domain. Assessing cognitive domain is straightforward because it
uses the widely used Cumulative Grade Point Average. The affective domain assessment
criteria are well documented in the iCGPA guidelines. Assessing the psychomotor domain for
students undergoing computing programs is complicated, considering computing programs
does not have much tasks using the psychomotor domain. This paper discusses the iCGPA and
computing standards that higher education institution need to conform with in order to produce
graduates in the field of computing. The concepts of psychomotor in computing courses are
identified and examined in detail. A generic psychomotor domain assessment rubric suitable
for computing courses was devised and presented in this paper. |
