The lake has been polluted by small sewage treatment system (SSTS) effluent discharge. The wastewater from jetty complex that consists of eateries and public restrooms and several houseboats wastewater is discharged to the SSTS. The effluent from SSTS is not properly treated and high in organic matter, bacteria, and nutrient contents. On the other hand, Temenggor lake is the source of drinking water supply to the northern side of Malaysia.
