The challenge is to achieve high sensitivity and selectivity in environmental and biological samples predominantly at low analyte concentrations and in the presence of interfering substances. Spectroscopic analytical techniques such as AAS, lCP-MS and ICP-OES are sophisticated but only suitable for well-equipped and well-funded laboratory, not in the field application.
