Summary: | At very close distance, most of the theoretical formula used to compute electromagnetic forces are not valid because the results approach infinity.Past researches have shown that under static condition, measured and computed electromagnetic forces versus position at a very close distance is almost linear. Here, we studied the characteristics of dynamic electromagnetic forces at very close distances of less 0.6 mm.Experiments were conducted to measure accelerations of a metal rod under attraction forces by an electromagnet, and the forces were computed from the accelerations. It was found that the applied dynamics forces were constant for each experiment, indicating that the findings differed from the results of the static condition. © 2023, Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd. |
