Summary: | The fallen standard of education in Nigeria over the past two decades shows that lecturers lack the required teaching qualification, characteristics and competence required to effectively do their job.Given this submission, this paper proposes a conceptual framework to enhance lecturers’ performance based on an examination of three key factors and their interrelationship.It argues that lecturers who demonstrate higher level of teaching qualifications, characteristics and competence would perform better than those who do not.The current paper contributes to literature by discussing teaching qualifications, characteristics and competence in the university context which previous studies have neglected. |
