Summary: | SDG 17 in the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals specifically calls for strengthening the means of implementing and revitalizing partnerships towards sustainability. Youth constitutes an important partner to a sustainable campus measure, yet in the context of green issues not much is known in the literature on their awareness, attitude and leadership motivators. This study explores these aspects to help propose how to inculcate youth support for the university's goal to be leading organization in sustainable development. A questionnaire was developed based on past literature to determine and administered to the target respondents i.e. undergraduate students. A total of 2139 students' responses were obtained. Analysis indicates that in terms of awareness and attitudes, the students manifest what past study has termed as environmentally-responsible citizens. Model generated in the study revealed that factors influencing youth green leadership are the characteristics of the individual; the influencers or people who influence, inspiring events and circumstances of the individual. Some implications of the findings are discussed at the end of the report. |
