There are some problems found in the inventory activities when inaccurate inventory counts happened. Therefore, this study was conducted to study the relationship between the inventory functions which are cycle inventories, buffer inventories and decoupling inventories with best practice in decision making. The data was collected using a mixed-method approach which is a quantitative method by using questionnaires and the qualitative method by interviewing the managers at DXN. The total respondents who answering the questionnaires are 30 and 3 managers who have been interviewed. The data from the questionnaires were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25. The interview session has been recorded. Results from the data analysis using a Pearson's correlation and regression analyses have shown that cycle, buffer and decoupling inventories have a strong positive relationship with best practice in decision making. It is concluded that decoupling inventories is the strongest independent variable affecting the best practice in decision making. Since this study is based on the DXN perspective, the data collected may only be applicable to the company in the same industry only. Lastly, future research on this topic can broaden their scope rather than focusing on one company only.
