my.uum.repo.217502017-04-20T01:27:46Z http://repo.uum.edu.my/21750/ "Youtube" dan generasi muda Islam: Satu pendekatan kelompok fokus dalam kalangan pelajar universiti Aripin, Norizah Ismail, Awan Ishak, Mohd Sobhi Abdul Rahman, Nik Adzrieman Abdul Rahman, Mohd Nizho Madon, Mot Mustaffa, Mohd Faisal HM Sociology T Technology (General) The presence of “YouTube” today provides space for young Muslims seeking religious information in “YouTube”.This information search provides different beliefs perception to the younger generation, especially with the emergence of „Ustaz YouTube‟ that delivers religious information that cannot verify the validity of the information.The objective of this paper is to identify the types of religious information navigated in the “YouTube” and to identify the belief perception of “YouTube” as the source of religious information.This is a qualitative study using focus group interviews with four groups of 31 students from Universiti Utara Malaysia, Muslim Malay ethnic as well as a variety of educational backgrounds.Questions posed to students in the form of open-ended questions and analysis of this study using thematic analysis.The study found that eight informants in first session surf “YouTube” on Islam-related information on Islamic law, lectures, prominent Islamic leaders, current issues, prayers and signs of the apocalypse. In the second phase, four informants surf “YouTube” on Islamic related lecture, zikir and solat. Meanwhile the third session informants surf “YouTube” to seek information on the history of Islam, including the history of the prophets, current issues, the laws of Islam, lecture and question and answer session, apart from having religious materials such as nasheed and Islamic oriented cartoon.Seven informants from the fourth session surf “YouTube” to seek information relating to the laws of Islam, al-Quran recitation, motivation, lectures that address current issues, comparative religion, zikir, and nasyid.The majority of the informants browse “Youtube” to seek religious information in the form of education and entertainment.In terms of belief that “YouTube” is a source of religious information, the informants of each focus group sessions assert that religious teachers should have strong religious education and have the credibility to be religious speakers should be an important basis to ensure that “YouTube” disseminate credible religious information.
