Summary: | Wasatiyyah practice among public university student leaders is a key element in realizing the 1Malaysia vision, 'People First, Performance Now. This study was conducted to identify the level of wasatiyyah practices and differences by respondent
demographics. This study used a quantitative approach included cross-sectional
surveys to collect data. This study involved 89 student leaders who were selected through simple random sampling. This study used the questionnaire of wasatiyyah practices that had been built mainly by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi (2010) called the 30 Manhaj Wasatiyyah and some related scholars. This questionnaire had also been evaluated by handling a pilot test session for validity and reliability the items and dimensions of questionnaire. Descriptive analysis involving the mean score and
standard deviation were used to identify the effectiveness level of wasatiyyah practices while the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallist were used to identify the comparative differences of wasatiyyah applications based on demographical factors. The findings showed that wasatiyyah practices were implemented at a high level in all dimensions except strategic dimension. Thus, the
elements in the wasatiyyah practices need to be applied among student leaders, especially in public universities, in order to achieve the strategic plan of building leaders. |
