The number of FEC packets need to be generated adaptively because usually wireless network has varying network condition.In the current Adaptive FEC mechanism, the FEC packets are determined based on average queue length and average packet retransmission time. However, in order to determine average queue length, estimating its weight value (i.e. smoothing factor) is a challenging task.
