Summary:This study is an early exploration to describe school quality culture and determine its relationship with teachers' organizational commitment in the secondary schools. The dimensions of school quality culture are customer management, team work, communication climate, training in quality, continuous improvement, total involvement and shared value. The dimensions of teachers' organizational commitment being studied are commitment towards school, commitment towards teaching works, commitment towards profession and commitment towards group works. Units of analysis for this study were schools and the respondents were teachers from seven secondary schools in the district of Manjung. Since the units of analysis were schools, the aggregate level of school quality culture and organizational commitment were calculated according to per school building. Result of the study showed a moderate relationship between school quality culture and organizational commitment. This study is also to identify the differences between school quality cultures and teachers' organizational commitment according to schools and school categories. The school categories were divided into schools with high performance, schools with low performance and school which is implementing IS0 9000. The performances of the schools were based upon the results of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia for the year 2001. Results showed there were different school quality cultures and organizational commitments according to school and school categories. The implications of the study and suggestions were given to guide future researchers to develop their findings in the field of school quality cultures and its relationship with teachers' commitment and also other variables. Besides other informations in this study can be used by many parties in order to determine continuous quality improvement programs at school, district and ministry levels.
