Industrial Accident Prevention This study delves into the intricate relationship between safety management system (SMS) factors and safety performance within the context of a hose manufacturing company. Safety in manufacturing environments is paramount for employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and organizational productivity, yet the efficacy of safety management systems in achieving these objectives remains a topic of ongoing inquiry. A sample size of N=169 was selected using simple random sampling techniques from employees within the hose manufacturing company. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and archival records. The SMS factors examined included safety policy, safety training, safety communication, and safety control, all in relation to safety performance. Preliminary analysis uncovers several noteworthy findings. Firstly, a significant positive correlation of moderate strength is observed between safety policy and safety performance, indicating that organizations with well-defined and effectively implemented safety policies tend to exhibit improved safety performance outcomes. Secondly, safety training is found to have a notable impact on safety performance, suggesting that enhancements in safety training programs are associated with improvements in safety performance. Thirdly, safety communication emerges as a crucial predictor of safety performance, indicating that proactive communication strategies, can foster sustainable safety performance. Lastly, safety control is shown to influence safety performance through regular monitoring and prevention plans. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the significance of aligning SMS factors with organizational safety goals to optimize safety performance outcomes. The insights derived from this study offer valuable implications for practitioners aiming to refine safety management strategies within manufacturing environments, particularly within hose manufacturing companies. 2024 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/11448/1/permission%20to%20deposit-not%20allow-s825571.pdf text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/11448/2/s825571_01.pdf text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/11448/3/s825571_02.pdf Nur Aishah, Abdul Rahim (2024) Relationship between safety management system factors and safety performance in hose manufacturing company.
