| Summary: | The study uncovers the perception of falls among older adults in Malacca, Malaysia and the presence of environmental hazards in their homes. Visits to the homes of 72 elderlies were made to determine their fear level of falling by using the Fear Efficacy Scale International (FES-I) and subsequently to identify the relationship between the fear of falling and environmental hazards while determining the relationship between age and gender with the fear of falling. Unlike previous studies, they are not concerned about falling and the fear of falling only affects the those with physical and medical illness, and had had a history of a fall. Also, there is no significance between fear of falling and environmental hazards. Meanwhile female respondents are more prone to the fear of falling as compared to males and the older adults who fear of falling is significantly older than those who do not. |
