Description
Summary:Sustainable Development (SD) is a simple way of ensuring a better quality of life for everyone, now and for generation to come. It refers to a perspective that considers all three aspects which are social, economic and the environment. Designing an electrical system with sustainability refers to an approach that considers the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, conservation and minimising usage of natural resources. SD implementations can be grouped into four main areas, namely supplementing consumption with renewable energy, use of high energy efficiency equipments, by design and also instilling SD awareness among employees. Asiaflex Products is taken as the case study for this project. This paper highlights the electrical system designs based on SD concept, equipments used and the comparisons between SD model and the conventional model. Comparisons are also done based on the energy consumptions, energy savings, costs and its return of investment.
