Summary: | This study aims to identify the level of emotional intelligence and the ability of non-routine mathematical problem-solving among Form Two secondary students in KubangPasu. It determines the standard of the student's emotional intelligence capabilities across mathematic non-routine problem-solving. A total of 197 Form Two students were selected as respondents in this study. Information was collected using a questionnaire consisting of section A which includes of background information on the respondents; section B contains two sets of non-routine mathematical questions, meanwhile section C contains the Emotional Intelligence Inventory adapted from the Emotional Intelligence Inventory USM (USMEQ-i). The results show that the level of the Form Two students' emotional intelligence was high. Also, an analysis of the domains of emotional intelligence found the highest mean of emotional intelligence in the domain of emotional expression, while the lowest was in the domain of emotional control. Furthermore, the study shows the level of non-routine problem-solving was moderate. Besides, analysis of the level of student's emotional intelligence across non-routine mathematics problem-solving was found at high, medium and low capacity levels with high emotional intelligence. Studentspoor in non-routine solving mathematical problems have moderate emotional intelligence. |
