Summary: | Magnetite zeolite nanocomposite was prepared by gree synthesis method by utilizing iron salts, zeolite and sodium hydroxide as precursors, substrate and reducing agent respectively. The removal of copper was studied by varying the contact time, initial metal concentration and adsorbent dosage. The maximum adsorption capacity of 138.7 mg.g-1 was obtained by utilizing 0.03 g of adsorbent for removal of 260 mg/L copper concentration within 10 minutes of contact time. The material can be separated from the medium by an external magnetic field. Magnetite zeolite nanocomposite shows very good adsorption towards copper ion within short period of time. The data obtained have been analyzed in terms of Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. |
