Summary: | Geographic Information System (GIS) can overcome the weakness of the manual process in handling geographical information. Among its various applications, the military can gain from its usage. The study centers on the designing of conceptual model of beach information database for amphibious operations. Users requirements were analyses to obtain concepts that were required and depicted through the Entity-Relationship Diagram (E-R Diagram). Its transformation into relational tables was simple. Tables formed were implemented into the computer to try the conceptual model that was designed. The study finds that the E-R Diagram is easy to use and 18 entities and 22 relations were identified. Normalisation technique is inherent with the diagram. Tables conform to the third normal form. |
