That is the reason why the usage of a chemical analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy with the combination of attenuated total reflectance (ATR) is used for the qualitative determination of the halal product. Therefore, it is the aim of this study to detect porcine’s source in capsule for halal pharmaceutical authentication. The detection of porcine-based in the capsule has been carried out through FTIR-ATR by the comparison of FTIR spectra for the different source of capsule which are from bovine and porcine. It was found that, the comparison of spectra analysis for both capsule’s sample shows very similar but appear slightly difference at mid infrared (IR) region in the range of 3600-3000cm-1 and 1700- 1500cm -1. In this study has also been carried out the survey about the issues of halal pharmaceutical to survey the awareness of the consumer. The results showed that, the main objective of this study, which is to identify sensitivity of the respondents about the issue of halal in pharmaceutical product has been achieved by the highest value of mean at 3.99. Therefore, this finding concluded that, FTIR-ATR is an alternative method of the detection source in the pharmaceutical product like capsule. 2012 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed Mustafa, Radhiahtul Raehan and Ruskam, Aminuddin and Nik Malek, Nik Ahmad Nizam (2012) Detection of porcine based in capsule by using scientific method and awareness of consumer about the halal authentication.
