Summary: | The descriptive study using this correlation method is to identify the divergent leadership practices of the most dominant head teacher and the level of work commitments of the primary school teachers. This study also aims to see the difference of work commitments based on gender, age and teaching experience of teachers in primary schools. The respondents were 120 teachers from 15 primary schools in Gemencheh area. The distributed questionnaires consists of three sections designed to obtain the background information on respondents, the level of leadership practice diverges the head teacher and teachers’ work commitments. The instruments were tested for reliability based on Cronbach alpha scale among 20 teachers in one of the primary schools in Gemencheh area. The result of this pilot study showed high reliability of the item, the practice of the head teacher leadership diverges (0.834) and the work commitments of teachers (0.885). The data were analyzed using the standard deviation, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Spearman correlation. The results showed that the level of the head teacher is high diverges, meanwhile the level of work commitments of teachers are at the moderate level. The hypothesis of the study showed that there was no significant difference between work commitments to the teachers’ gender, age and teaching experience. Through the analysis of the relationship found that there was a strong relationship between the leadership of the head teacher with the work commitments of the teachers. Finally, some recommendations are presented for further research in future. |
