Description
Summary:Physical based animations of deformable objects have been used in the field of computer animation, virtual surgery and engineering for quite some time. However, for deformable object with large number of polygons, believable animation is hard to be performed in real time. For a very small deformation on these objects, classical deformation techniques finds equilibrium state for every part of the object, including parts that undergo very small deformation or no deformation at all. This paper presents an improvement technique for classical geometric based elastic deformation technique that aims to reduce total computation time by not processing area with small or no deformation. Until termination criteria are met, deformable object are deformed starting from the center of deformation, propagatively. The algorithm saves dynamics computation time for small or no deformation area within a complex objects. The technique is suitable for geometric based deformation techniques such as mass spring techniques.
