Description
Summary:The growing concern over the adulteration of petrochemical surely contributed to the confusion on the authentication of petrochemical as there have been adulterated with additional substances that affect the quality of products. This paper presents a simulation of D-shaped optical fiber sensor for adulterant traces in liquid petrochemical. The simulation is performed using Wave Optics Module-COMSOL Multiphysics®. The simulation was conducted by assuming the D-shaped is surrounded with liquid petrochemical with refractive index ranging from 1.40 RIU to 1.50 RIU, based on the collected information in the previous literature. This paper depicts the response of the manipulated parameter towards the electric field distribution and the effective refractive index, which is taken to be analyzed. In the future, the sensor can be utilized effectively to detect and analyze adulteration substances.
