Bulk α-alumina embedded tapered fiber as Q-switcher in an erbiumdoped fiber laser

We present bulk α-alumina (Al2O3) in a polydimethylsiloxane matrix decorated tapered fiber as a Q-switcher for microsecond pulse generation.
