Summary:This research assesses the potential of heritage trail mapping in Bandar Penggaram, Batu Pahat, Johor by observing the community’s perceptions. This research intends to profile and map the cultural heritage descriptions of Bandar Penggaram as a unique town from historical, economic, socio-cultural, and environmental backgrounds. This research has adopted a mixed-method approach by disseminating questionnaire surveys to the respondents, and having focus group discussions with various public and private agencies. The result shows that the majority (76.2%) of the respondents perceived that the heritage zone of Bandar Penggaram has the potential to attract tourists and researchers to the town, while the cooperation between the authorities and stakeholders has been found to be necessary to create awareness among the communities of their historical glory within the heritage zone.
