Characteristic of Different Precursor Size of Activated Carbon Produced From Oil Palm Shell in Adsorption of LPG

The effects of material precursor selections in the quality of activated carbon produced from oii palm shell, an abundant palm-oil miil solid waste, were studied. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy was used to analyze the micropore and surface condition o...

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy was used to analyze the micropore and surface condition of activated carbon. Simple gravimetric model was developed to test LPG adsorption rate of produced sample. The results indicates that material size was essential to develop uniform pore size of activated carbons. However, too small material precursor size would cause low yieid and macropore during pyrolysis and activation, respectively. The pore distributions had a significant effect on the amount of LPG adsorbed in low pressure (2 bar). 2009-10-11 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed application/pdf en http://eprints.utem.edu.my/id/eprint/7513/1/ICADME_2009.pdf Herawan, Safarudin Gazali and Ayob, Md Razali (2009) Characteristic of Different Precursor Size of Activated Carbon Produced From Oil Palm Shell in Adsorption of LPG.
