Summary: | Efficiently managing energy demand is crucial for promoting sustainability in industrial sectors. This study introduces a MATLAB Simulink model that combines solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid integration for effective industrial demand-side management. The main goals are to decrease peak demand and improve operational efficiency, addressing the challenges arising from high energy consumption and environmental concerns. The study also focuses on peak shaving and load shifting, achieved by using stored energy during high-demand periods and recharging during low-demand times. This leads to reduced load and balanced energy usage. However, the "Factory Load with Solar PV and Battery" configuration shows higher consumption due to battery charging. Nonetheless, a significant decrease in energy usage can be accomplished by increasing the solar PV system's capacity and prioritizing solar energy for battery charging. Future research should focus on enhancing hybrid energy strategies by integrating energy systems with demand response, particularly dynamic pricing. This integration holds great potential for initial cost reduction and improved returns on investment, guiding industries towards more sustainable practices. |
