Summary: | The study presents the improvement design of a post that used for traffic safety barrier. The aim of this
investigation is to conceptualise and design a rooted guard rail post. It is then comparatively analyse and investigated over
the existing posts based on their standard parameters. The selected design was tested by finite element analysis simulations
using SolidWorks which focuses on the deflection of the post. The study shows that, the proposed rooted-post was able to
withstand much higher horizontal impact force as compared to existing types of W-Beam Post, and Wire Rope Post. It also
proves that, the root of the post is able to significantly increase the soil-post interaction which helps the pole to withstand
a much greater impact during accidents. In conclusion, the design of proposed post has better performance which is
expected to reduce the run-off-road catastrophic accidents. |
