Summary:Peningkatan prevalens obesiti dalam kalangan dewasa di Malaysia semakin membimbangkan dan ini telah mewujudkan fenomena baru yang dipanggil sindrom metabolik. Sindrom metabolik mempunyai kaitan dengan penyakit tidak berjangkit seperti diabetes melitus, penyakit jantung dan hiperlipidemia. Objektif kajian intervensi ini dijalankan bagi menilai kesan menggunakan pengurusan diet dan aktiviti fizikal di kalangan dewasa yang mengalami sindrom metabolik selepas dijalankan intervensi selama 6 bulan. Kajian eksperimental kuasi ini dijalankan ke atas 50 orang responden intervensi di Klinik Kesihatan Dong, dan 50 orang responden kawalan di Klinik Kesihatan Tersang. Penilaian status pemakanan yang merangkumi antropometri, biokimia dan penilaian diet serta aktiviti fizikal diukur pada pra dan pasca intervensi. The increasing prevalence of obesity among adults in Malaysia is worrying and this has created a new phenomenon called the metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is associated with non communicable disease such as diabetes mellitus, heart diseases and hyperlipidemia. The objective of this intervention study is to evaluate the effects of diet management and physical activity on adults with metabolic syndrome after 6 months of intervention. This quasi experimental study was conducted on 50 respondents (intervention) in Klinik Kesihatan Dong and 50 respondents (control) in Klinik Kesihatan Tersang. Assessment of nutritional status which include anthropometry measurements, biochemical and dietary assessment, as well as physical activity were measured during pre and post intervention.
