Islam has actually provided a unique mechanism to handle such issues which is called the diyat system. Diyat is not only a remedy but also an effective preventive measure to the problems. Its implementation is closely related to two parameters which are the asset and the 'aqilah system. Asset here refers to the type of asset acceptable for diyat payment, meanwhile 'aqilah refers to the party responsible to make the payment.
