Summary:Indeed, the laws pertaining to circumcision can be found in various chapters of the Islamic legal books and doctrines, alongside advances in medical science and living in Singapore have given a new way in the implementation of circumcision. This research is intended to gather the various laws and doctrines that can be found in the Islamic legal books and explain these rulings in terms of the methods and current issues related to circumcision. The difference between this research compared to other research books is that the writer took into account, the statements of doctors in giving the decisive statement with regards to certain rules that are being argued upon by the jurists whereby there were no definite theorem in the arguments. The writer also tried to connect every ruling related to circumcision with medical knowledge and explained the Syariah law for the application and current circumcision techniques. This study started with the definition of circumcision, type of circumcisions, and evidence in Islamic law, some doubts rose pertaining to the issue and the answers thereto, as it also includes the history of circumcision and circumcision of the prophets in Islam. There is also a discussion about the law of circumcision for men, women and bisexual, as well as the time of circumcision, conditions, its limitations, the laws surrounding circumcision for the patient and the non-patients. In terms of the implementation and the practicality, this research debates on the issue of contemporary circumcision in the Republic of Singapore by explaining the implementation of circumcision for the males and the latest technique that is being use, the stand and the views of the Singapore government concerning circumcision for the females. This study also explains the laws relating to mass circumcision, circumcision for Muslim converts, customs and traditions relating to circumcision ceremony. Descriptive and inductive approach has been use for the methodology adopted in this study to gather the opinions of scholars, their evidences and arguments, and the same methodology is also used to determine the views of medical doctors in this research topic. Analytical and critical approach is used to discuss the views of scholars and their arguments to search for an opinion closest to the truth. This study has been able to yield some results, among the most important findings are: that circumcision is part of a religious act in Islam, whether for men or women, but to carry out the circumcision, one must meet certain conditions set by Islamic law and the medical science. As for its implementation in Singapore, it is being carried out by what is legal in Islam and not against the provision or resolution in outline by medical science.
