Mizan Adiliah The purpose of this research is to ascertain the problems faced by Muslim converts in Malaysia. The focus areas of this study involves the bureaucratic problem in the conversion process, knowledge and education, family affairs, welfare, adaptation ana assimilation process, and the need for guidance and appropriate Dakwah strategies. This descriptive study involved 1026 converts and 50 religious department officers nationwide. The data was obtained from structured questionnaires and interviews and were analyzed using SPSS software. The study highlights the facts that there is lack of information reference material on the conversion process, they were confused about the role of specific officers within, the religious department. The problem of knowledge and information also stems from a lack of information on Islam in the media as well as their inability to obtain information that are written in their native tongue and not written in Jawi. Their busy schedule also restricts their ability to set time a side to further study Islam. The problems of family affairs evolve around finding the appropriate way to inform their families of their conversion and the perception of the family that becoming a Muslim means to be Malay. The converts also indicate that they have problems with accommodation and job security. This is in addition to adapting themselves to changes in their lifestyle. This study finds that a Dakwah methodology can be initiated through the provision and better dissemination of information, support and guidance to the converts. These objectives can be efficiently met through the use of technology, social cultural activities, and other teaching methods. 2015-05-18T08:30:05Z 2015-05-18T08:30:05Z 2005-03-01 Research Report http://ddms.usim.edu.my/handle/123456789/8183 my Kolej Universiti Islam Malaysia
