The widespread adoption of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and wireless connectivity has facilitated the mainstream use of intelligent solutions. Specifically, a smart home is characterized by a communication network, advanced fixtures, appliances, and sensors accessible, monitored, and remotely controlled, offering services tailored to residents? needs. The purpose of the study is to assess global research trends in smart home technology, focusing on publication outputs, co-authorships among authors and affiliated countries, funding institutions, co-occurrence of author keywords and the most preferred journal or conference for smart home adoption. Using a bibliometric study, the Scopus database was used to collect the relevant publications. We retrieved a total of 2,507 articles published between 2014 and 2024. The results reveal a consistent increase in publications since 2014, except for slight decreases in 2021 and 2023. The contributions to global publications predominantly came from researchers in the United States, China, and the United Kingdom, among 86 other countries. Noteworthy funding institutions include the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the United States, China's National Natural Science Foundation, and the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme (EU). In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive insight into smart home adoption trends, leveraging a dataset from the Scopus database. The research trajectory indicates substantial growth over the past decade, with expectations of continued expansion in the future. ?
