my.uniten.dspace-338222024-10-13T02:03:37Z A study on tool path generation for CNC milling process Chin Hua Han Milling-machines TJ1189.C44 2012 Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is an on-line application of computer- aided manufacturing (CAM), which use a computer with a machine control unit (MCU) to generate commands for controlling the machining processes such as Milling and Drilling. The off-line application of CAM includes NC part programming and post- processing. NC part programming involves the collection of all data required to produce the part. The goal for tool path generation is to create a machined surface which closely approximates the CAD designed surface within a certain prescribed tolerance. In this project, different tool path generation methods for a three-axis CNC milling were studied. The calculation and estimation of a tool path along which the machine operations was carried out. Machining of a half-cylinder part and a sculptured part using 3-axis milling machine will be tested to illustrate and to compare a range of tool path patterns.
