my.uniten.dspace-338062024-10-29T11:55:26Z Optimized splicing technique for heterostructure fiber optic Mohd Solehin Hassan Optical fibers-Joints TA1800.M63 2013 Nowadays, Fiber optic highly being used in communication system to replace a copper cable because of is advantage to transmit data at the high speed and the source of the transmission is light or a laser. Usually, there are two type of fiber that been used inside the telecommunication system Single Mode Fiber (SMF) and Multimode Fiber (MMF) both fiber have different characteristic and ability. For the single mode fiber (SMF) it is use for long distance area and the core diameter is between 5um and 10μm with the cladding is 125μm, the application of single mode fiber high data rate and lowest signal loss. For the multimode fiber it is use short distance because of large core diameter gather than 10μm, typically the core diameter is 62.5μm and the cladding diameter is 125μm is used in all telecommunication system. But the main objective is to optimized splicing technique for heterostructure fiber optic where some experiment will be conduct, to find the best way to splice the fiber and low losses. This experiment is using fusion splicing machine (Sumitomo type-39), to do the experiment the procedure have to follow so that the result is consistence and easy to compare the data as the analysis. The experiment will be prepare (SMF to SMF splice), this experiment the data will be recorded and to be analyzed.
