However, some problems have been faced while strengthening the RC beams flexurally with steel plates. The premature end peeling of the steel plate is one of the main weaknesses of the system. L-shaped end anchors would have significant effect to eliminate premature end peeling. Shear connectors could resist the interfacial shear stress, thus, debonding of anchor plates could minimized by using shear connectors. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of shear connectors in end anchor to eliminate premature plate debonding of flexurally strengthened reinforced concrete beam. To achieve the aim, an experimental program of two RC beams, each 2300 mm long, 125 mm wide, and 250 mm deep, were fabricated and tested. One beam was strengthened with L shaped end anchor of 40mm and the other one was strengthened with L shaped end anchor of 40mm with shear connectors. The results of these two beams were compared with another three beams i.e. control, strengthened without end anchor, and strengthened with 100 mm end anchors obtained from previous research. The shear connector was found of a good effect to prevent the debonding of the end anchor plate. It is important to mention that even after the beam failure, the shear connectors and the as well as the anchors were still bonded on the beam. It was also noted that the strengthen beam with the shear connectors failed under 115kN while the control specimen failed under 83 N. Therefore, as it can be observed, the strengthen beam with the shear connectors was improved by 27.3% for the failure load. 2024-07-31T08:39:55Z 2024-07-31T08:39:55Z 2012 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/33154 en_US application/pdf
