It because of the advantages like a high reliability, easy installation, replacement and last but not least low price. However, the traditional human reading method has its drawbacks such as big workload, process trivial and lack of accuracy. The aim of this thesis work is based on digital image processing technique, studies the automatic reading recognition method for analogue meter. For this purpose, features matching point based algorithm has been implemented due to the efficiency to solve and speed. Speeded Up Robust Features has been chosen as the template matching method and mainly algorithm to finish this project. The entire algorithm is developed in C++ language and MATLAB software is used to simulate the algorithm.
