Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. Solar tracker is a combination of mechanical and electrical device that can tracks the sun to keep the panel at a right angle to its rays. As the plane of the solar panel system is always maintained normal to the sun rays, maximum power is generated by the array. This smart solar tracking system can increase the optimal charging because of this solar tracking can track the sunlight continuously and can produce maximum output voltage uniformly. This system can also reduce the power consumption of the battery by using a single DC motor and the PIC 18f4520. Besides that, the energy that had been saved, from using single motor, can be supplied to the load and increase the life span of the battery. Besides that, the production cost and maintenance cost can be reduced by using a single DC motor instead of light dependent resistor (LDR) and two DC motors in the dual axis system Nowadays solar energy is very famous as an important means of renewable energy sources. This project will include the design and construction of a solar panel tracking system. This solar panel tracking system wills automatically keeping the solar panels aligned with the sun in order to maximize efficiency so it will get the amount of solar radiation and convert into usable form of electrical energy and store this energy into batteries for different types of application.
