The objective of this project is therefore to examine and investigate the total removal of copper Cu2+ from local industrial wastewater using a chemical precipitation method. This research investigates the elimination efficiency of slaked lime Ca(OH)2 as a precipitant agent during the hydroxide precipitation process. The experimental work consists of nine samples of real spent rinse wastewater from local electroless nickel plating company containing copper Cu2+ as a heavy metal with a concentration of 1000ppm. Also, saturated of Calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 solution was prepared and added to the wastewater samples with different volumes during titration process. In order to examine how effective and efficient the process was, important parameters such pH, Cu2+ percentage reduction and mass of precipitates were investigated and taken into account with respect to volume of saturated of Ca(OH)2 and time reaction. The results can be concluded that the optimum values for pH, Cu2+" percentage reduction and mass of precipitates are 7.83, 99.95 percent and 0.0243g respectively, and were obtained at 18 ml volume of saturated Ca(OH)2 and 2 hours of time reaction. Since those results meets standard A of local standards discharge limits, they are most recommended to wastewater treatment plants to be used in a larger scale in order to have a proper treatment before discharging to the river. 2023-05-03T17:44:28Z 2023-05-03T17:44:28Z 2020-02 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/21708 application/pdf |
