Description
Summary:The use of water as coolant in cooling system is essential in efficiency of power plant operation. The aim and purpose of this research was to optimise the coagulation process and suitability of using natural coagulants in coagulation process on raw water for Connaught Bridge Power Station. To achieve the objective of this research, the jar test was carried out by varies the type of coagulant used. The parameters observed for this research are residual turbidity and colour while the pH is monitored throughout the experiment. The type of coagulants are organics coagulant which is Aluminium Sulfate (Alum) while for the inorganics coagulant which is Polymer. Polymer act as coagulant aid in primary coagulant which is Alum. Optimum dosage for these coagulants were determined. Results in this research proved the suitability of natural coagulant in coagulation process on raw water for Connaught Bridge Power Station with high percentage removal of residual turbidity and colour. The effect of mixing of natural coagulant mix with alum increase the percentage residual turbidity and colour removal. In conclusion, it shows that this research meet the objectives of optimising the coagulation process on raw water for Connaught Bridge power Station
