Solar photovoltaic system is one of the popular alternatives which this paper is designing and analysing its implementation for UNITEN Sport Arena, a newly built indoor sport facility. Before designing the system, the electricity usage of the building needed to be identified so that the system designed is according to the usage. To design the system and finding out how much energy the system will generate, a software named Helioscope is used. It is a simple software of specifying the proposed area for solar panel installation and all the components of the photovoltaic system and it will use the weather data available to calculate the annual energy production. Different solar panel is used to compare their efficiency between each type of panel. After selecting which design to be used, further analysis is done using another software named HOMER. HOMER simulate generates a few feasible configurations together with economic calculation of each configurations. Comparison is made between each system to select the best implementation. The results show that the best implementation is an on-grid system without energy storage which sells excess energy generated and buy electricity from the grid during no solar power generated. This configuration also has the lowest Net Present Cost and Cost of Energy.
