As the electricity demand in the nation is growing rapidly in the country, it is important to maintain and sustainable the generation system reliability. The generation reliability has been essential to our nation where the economic activities rely on the power supply. Besides that, our electricity supply start to increase the renewable energy to make the country better in terms of economic, social and environment. The most important aspect in the power generation system are not failing the generation system which may cause total blackout to the Peninsular Malaysia if contingency plan is not well-planed. This incident will incorporate with a huge loss to both the utility company and nation economy. This project have two different objective that need to achieve which are to determine the minimum reserve margin while maintaining acceptable generation reliability of the power system and to analyse the achievability of the renewable energy target with respect to reserve margin. By using probabilistic approach and deterministic approach, this project will determine the reliability of power generation system in Peninsular Malaysia for year 2025. In this thesis, the basic power system to determine generation reliability using loss-of-load method has been designed. Those include the formulation of load model, formulation of generation system model and formulation of system risk model which will be applied to the scenario analysis to obtain the outcome of the project. The results of the analysis are different configurations of renewable energy in the generation system model. Based on the result, the reliability of the power generation system are still in the criteria of 1 day/year. The conclusion will summarize the overall project on the case studies of power generation system reliability in Peninsular Malaysia and a few recommendations for future improvement towards the project. 2023-05-03T17:16:36Z 2023-05-03T17:16:36Z 2020-02 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/21564 en
