A study of NDT on the reinforced concrete composite by using ultrasound testing in comparison of current method

Ultrasonic testing is one of the non-destructive testing (NDT) method that is widely used in the industry for the inspection of the defect such as internal crack that possibly happened inside the object. As the complement of the study, reinforced concrete inspection is one of the best combination sc...

As the complement of the study, reinforced concrete inspection is one of the best combination scope to combine with ultrasonic testing (UT) method in evaluating the crack that emerged on the concrete building. As the reinforced concrete is widely used in the real life building nowadays, it is crucial to ensure the lifespan of the building is well maintained and inspected annually to prevent any life losses happen in the future. The principle goal of this study comprises in the identifying the type of crack that happened on the building alongside with the understanding the factors that affect the internal crack by using the stated NDT method. Inside this work, the inspection processes were performed by using Ultrasonic Tester UK1401, an Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) instrument with variation of different buildings and places to be tested around UNITEN including College of Engineering (COE), Admin Building (BA), and College of Energy Economics & Social Sciences (CES). The method of inspection is using the ultrasound propagation time in evaluating the crack depth inside the subsurface of the building and evaluation of crack width by using Watchmaker Identifier. Moreover, this work result validation will be utilized and proposed for the appropriate measures to be taken. 2023-05-03T16:56:38Z 2023-05-03T16:56:38Z 2020-02 https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/21453 application/pdf
