Description
Summary:This thesis depicts a problem that people have endured and experienced while dispensing fuel at any fuel station. The problem was that the amount of money spent on fuel does not reflect the exact amount of fuel dispensed according to the subsidized price. This problem was ascertained due to the formation of air bubbles in the fuel pipeline. The formation of these air bubbles obstructs the even and smooth flow of fuel until the fuel nozzle. Therefore, to surmount this conflict, a round disk with holes or better known as an orifice plate, was proposed to be installed in the fuel line. In order to assess this conflict, an experiment was conducted by producing a prototype from scratch. This prototype was used for two separate experiments. For the first experiment, two prototypes of same dimensions were used to test the activity of the air bubbles with and without orifice plate. Orifice plate was installed in one pipe and was not installed in the other one. As for the second experiment, two prototypes of different dimensions, a big and a small protype, was experimented to arbitrate the flow rate of fuel. This experiment was done using orifice plate on both prototypes. Upon gathering and analyzing the results, the installation of orifice plate dispenses a minute more amount of fuel compared to without the installation of orifice plate.
